GM Dave Gettleman is rubbing his hands together - now is his time to shine. The third week of free agency is upon us, so let us take a look at some free agents that could fit into the Panthers plans at this stage. CB Sterling Moore, Dallas Cowboys
The Panthers backups are not really adequate, and should an injury to either Josh Norman or Bene Benwikere occur, Melvin White would be next to step up as a starter - not a winning condition by any stretch of the imagination. Moore demonstrated in Dallas that he could be an adequate starter when needed when Morris Claiborne went down for the season. Bringing Moore in at a low number would not preclude the Panthers from drafting a cornerback in the draft either. At 25 Moore has the potential for growth in the coming years and would benefit from an improved supporting cast. WR Denarious Moore, Oakland Raiders
I recognize that I am not pointing out a secret here: Moore makes a lot of sense for the Panthers as a candidate for a change of scenery. He has game-breaking speed but has been maddeningly inconsistent thus far in his career. The 26 year old out of the University of Tennessee could thrive in a Panthers offense that already features Cam Newton, Greg Olsen, and Kelvin Benjamin in the passing game. I will again rave about WR Coach Ricky Proehl, whom I believe to be one of the premier position coaches in the NFL, as an excellent teacher to get the best out of Moore. MLB Nick Bellore, New York Jets
The Panthers may have the best linebacking tandem in the NFL, but the depth at the linebacker phase of the defense is built mostly out of undrafted players. While Adarious Glanton and Ben Jacobs impressed in limited time last year, Bellore has been a standout on special teams for the Jets and came out of college with a reputation as a high intelligence player that is capable as a run-stopper. I mean, how many special teams players have hype videos made for them?
